Skills Required: WorkFaith Birmingham is a faith-based ministry that seeks to help address the complicated life issues of adults in transition by empowering them with the skills, support, values, avenues, and life perspectives they need to gain and maintain employment, and become productive contributors to their families, churches, and communities.
Our two-week workshop has been used successfully with over 1,000 adults in Birmingham. Every participant learns how to correctly fill out applications, create a resume based on their work history and their skills and abilities, speak honestly and ethically about their past, develop a network of support for their job search, identify potential employers, research potential employers, and much more. Every participant participates in mock interviews and observes other mock interviews so they can be prepared with confidence when they go to job interviews.
Classroom Assistant Role
The Classroom Assistant plays a vital role as a coach in the classroom, working closely in concert with the Instructor. Currently our workshops are conducted via Zoom, but in-person workshops are anticipated in the future. Classes are typically held monthly for two weeks, Monday – Friday, 9:00 – 1:00, essentially 40 hours/month over a 2 week period. On the job training will be required.

Job requirements include:
● Compassion for adults in transition from hard places
● Good communication and coaching skills
● Knowledge of Google Docs and Email (preferred). Those proficient with Microsoft Word should be able to transition to Google Docs fairly quickly
● Experience as a hiring manager or recruiter who is equipped to assist clients with their job seeking documents (cover letters, resumes, and job applications) and to help them prepare to confidently and appropriately answer interview questions

The Classroom Assistant will report directly to our Program Director.
